Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon Endowment Fund

Since 1994, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon has been a safe haven, a second home, and a launchpad for thousand of local kids and teens. Our commitment to Central Oregon youth doesn't stop with tomorrow. It extends for generations.

By contributing to the BGCCO Endowment Fund, you ensure that children in Bend, La Pine, and across our region will always have a dedicated space to belong, discover their strengths, and build great futures.

Why an endowment matters for Central Oregon

An endowment is more than a gift; it is a permanent foundation. Annual gifts meet today's needs. Endowment gifts are invested permanently, and only a portion of the earnings is spent each year, so the fund keeps working for local kids long after the gift is made.

As Central Oregon continues to grow rapidly, the demand for accessible, high-quality afterschool and youth development programs increases. Our endowment safeguards the future of our clubs, providing a reliable stream of income that protects our programs against economic shifts and guarantees that no child is ever turned away due to a families inability to pay.

How it works

  • Gifts to the endowment are held in a permanently restricted fund, governed by a spending policy set by our Board of Directors.
  • Each year, a portion of the investment earnings (typically around 4 to 5 percent of the fund's value) is distributed to support Club programs.
  • The principal stays invested and continues to grow.

In practical terms, every $100,000 added to the endowment provides roughly $4,000 to $5,000 for local kids every year, forever.

The impact of your vision

Endowment income supports the everyday work of the Club:

  • Academic success. Reliable homework help, tutoring, and literacy programs like Power Hour and our summer reading cohorts.
  • Healthy lifestyles. Daily physical activity, team sports, and healthy meals and snacks.
  • Good character and leadership. Community service, leadership development, and the Youth of the Year program.
  • Access for every family. Scholarships that make membership possible for families who could not otherwise afford it, including local children in foster care.

Ways to give to the endowment

  • A gift in your will or trust, directed "to the permanent endowment fund of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon." See sample language
  • A beneficiary designation naming the Club on a retirement account or life insurance policy. Because the Club receives retirement assets tax-free, many families leave the IRA to the Club and other assets to loved ones. Learn more

Named endowment funds

Gifts of $50,000 or more may establish a named fund in your family's name or in honor of a loved one, permanently supporting a specific program, a scholarship, or a clubhouse: Downtown Bend, East Bend, or La Pine.
