Give From Your IRA
If you are 70½ or older, you can give directly from your IRA to Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon without paying income tax on the withdrawal. It is called a qualified charitable distribution (QCD), and for many retirees it is the smartest gift they can make.
Why give from your IRA
- The gift is excluded from your taxable income, whether or not you itemize
- If you are 73 or older, it counts toward your required minimum distribution
- You can give up to the annual IRS limit (more than $100,000 per person, indexed each year)
- It supports local kids in Bend and La Pine right now
How it works
- Contact your IRA administrator and request a qualified charitable distribution to Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon. Most custodians have a simple form or can do this by phone.
- Have the check made payable to Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon (Tax ID 93-1127536) and mailed to 500 NW Wall Street, Bend, Oregon 97703. The funds must go directly from your IRA to the Club.
- Tell us it is coming. IRA checks often arrive without your name attached, and we want to thank you and send the acknowledgment your tax records need.
Name the Club as an IRA beneficiary
Retirement accounts left to loved ones can be heavily taxed, while the Club receives them tax-free. Naming Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon as a full or partial beneficiary of your IRA is a simple way to leave a legacy. It takes one form from your plan administrator, and your will does not need to change. Learn more about legacy giving
