Established in 1947, Youth of the Year is Boys & Girls Club's Premier recognition program for Club members, promoting service to Club, community and family, academic success, strong moral character, life goals and poise and public speaking ability.  The program is most effective when used as a year-round tool for fostering young peoples' character, personal growth and leadership qualities.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon had four youth members compete at our regional competition, and, after hearing from all of the deserving teens, the judges selected Heather Powell as the 2012 Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon Youth of the Year!

Heather will receive a $17,500 college scholarship and $1000 for a laptop computer when she begins college.  This scholarship has been provided to our youth over the years through a generous gift from PCC Structurals, Inc.

Without them I would not be the young, courageous woman that I am today. Because of the guidance and encouragement that I have received at the Club, I am fully prepare to passionately pursue my future. I feel like a succes, and like someone who is ready to tak on the world."
